Embakasi - Athi River

With dusk approaching and the Ngong Hills in the background, Train No 113 Up - a tanker train -heads for Nairobi across the Athi Plains near Embakasi.

Class 59 heads No 4 Down near Embakasi. The train would have departed Nairobi at 1545, calling at all stations to Mombasa where it was due to arrive at 0710 the following morning - just 50 minutes ahead of No 2 Down - the Mail Train which left Nairobi at 1830 for Athi River, Konza, Mtito Andei, Voi and Mombasa
