Bamse, the larger-than-life St Bernard dog that was a mascot of the Royal Norwegian NavyThe building in the background is the Seamen's Hall (now flats).  The board on the front of the building states that the Seamen's Society was founded in 1664 - PHOTOs Malcolm McCrow

Bamse, like Able Seaman Just Nuisance in Simon's Town, frequented the pubs with the sailors and rode unescorted on public transport after the sailors bought him a pass which was displayed on his collar - PHOTOs Malcolm McCrow
