The first “open water” Uganda government ferry to be built and launched in Uganda for many years is the 400 tonne displacement KALANGALA. After she was launched off the floating dock, she was pulled 7kms out to “sea” from Port Bell. The vessel will operate the Port Bell to Kalangala (in the Ssesse Islands) route and is mixed passenger and cargo, having a hydraulic crane attached to her deck. The ship was built by Kamanga Ferries. |
